About the Phoenix
Same family, same welcome, since 1991
An independent free house in Portishead, North Somerset, just on the outskirts of Bristol and a minute's walk from the High Street.
Our story
The Phoenix first opened its doors as a pub in 1996, having previously been run as a restaurant and wine bar. The business has stayed in the hands of the same family since 1991.
Being a free house, we choose what goes on the bar. That means multiple ales, beers and lagers on tap, Marston's guest ales that change regularly, and one of the largest gin and spirit ranges you'll find in a small Portishead pub.
We've recently added covered outdoor seating in the car park, so you can stay dry on rainy days, and we're always looking at ways to give the beer garden more room. For a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, look no further than the Phoenix.

Celebrate with us
Our conservatory gives you a private space for parties of up to 40. It's a great setting for birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations and wakes, or simply a big group of friends getting together.
